Track Name: Pulse
Pulse

Along a perimeter walk
I sought a childhood dream
Safe in a city that I longed to see
Somewhere a thought just beyond my reach
So far I can’t see it
But I can feel it reaching out to me
Reaching out
To me

We carry our heroes and our clowns
Wondering here
Not looking down
I’m picking up stones as a man of means
And I’m building walls

With the spirit of Allen
And ghosts of the stage
I feel inspiration
To calm my inner rage
I see a thousand stars
In and out of doorways
They drown the sounds of the lost
The sounds of the lost

We carry our heroes and our clowns
Wondering here
Not looking down
I’m picking up stones as a man of means
And I’m building walls

I’m on top of the world
And no-one knows I’m there
Wanting to go higher still
My guardian angel looks at the clouds
My broken clock
My broken heart
I never thought that you would still
Be here
Track Name: Pages
Pages

She’s writing this book
But it’s taking her years
It’s a visionary future
Or it’s difficult years
Yet she lives it this moment
And this moment it’s hers
When she reaches for someone
Someone disappears

If somebody could read it
The things that they would find
If they worked out the meaning
Of the disparate rhymes
If somebody could read it
The things that they could do
To uncover the lies
To uncover the truth

In the book there’s this hero
Who she met long ago
Who gave to her wonder
And a joy she’d not known
But reality claimed her
On the day she went home
Where she sits with the others
And wonders alone

If somebody could read it
The things that they would find
If they worked out the meaning
Of the disparate rhymes
If somebody could read it
The things that they could do
To uncover the lies
To uncover the truth
In a moment she feels
There is something familiar
She senses these words
Have been written before
Trying to look in her mind
She can’t place them
But she knows she has felt
How they touched her before
Track Name: The Pictures Within
The Pictures Within

It’s cold and its dark in here
Said the voice from deep inside
I could turn on the light
But it helps me to see
Too many pictures and people and places and points in the past
I would tear off your flesh
If I thought it would help me

Cover your ears you won’t hear them scream
If you cover your eyes the looks on their faces will disappear
Open your soul if you think it is time
And I’ll them the pictures you keep inside

How does it feel now you’re down to the bone
You bore all to the world now you’re sitting here naked
Did you really expect there to be just acceptance
Did you think they would swallow your sin that they tasted

Carry on cutting the muscle is tough
But the blood of your hatred will lubricate the blade enough
Pull the incision, show them your pride
I’ll show them your face as it’s seen from inside

Cover your ears you won’t hear them scream
If you cover your eyes the looks on their faces will disappear
Pull the incision, show them your pride
And I’ll them the pictures you keep inside
Track Name: A Memory
A Memory

So long since she saw the house, and played inside
A jungle of rooms and a staircase that led to the clouds
Boxes now lie scattered about
That kept clues to a past life

Found a picture of a house
In the garden a child was playing
Bathed in sun and full of life
A memory

She grew away from this
She became someone else
Left to find something that was not lost
Then she saw her box

A battered treasure chest she looked deep inside
Paintings of a face in a stream
Beneath calm waters, deep waters indeed
A memory

The fear and wonder of walking through the wood
in a lucid dream
Like an autumn leaf held in a fist
As seen through a child’s eyes

Found a picture of a house
The walls dry and cracked
Bathed in sun but without life
A memory
